It's Cherry Season

You might remember last year's cherry season. It is a lot of fun this year with a toddler who eats his fill of cherries, and, in the meantime, keeps the birds away!

Happy Birthday, Peter!

We sure do love you!!!
Thank you for all that you do for me and for our family!
Thank you for being a man that seeks God. For spending time in the Word. For acting out the fruits of the Spirit. For teaching our children how to seek God.
Thank you for all of your help with our children. Thank you for loving our children.
Thank you for loving me!

Cousin Easter Pictures

I thought this set of pictures needed some dialogue! We are finding that taking pictures of four little ones can be a bit of an adventure...and is always a good laugh at the viewing of said pictures!

Ok.

Rule #1: Don't give children suckers when trying to do a photo op. Particularly if they are already well-behaved and not causing a ruckus.

Rule #2: DEFINITELY don't give just one child a sucker!

First child happy with sucker. Second child spots the sucker.
Third & fourth oblivious to the sucker.

Second child asks for sucker.
Third child spots the sucker.
Fourth child a bit neglected.

Rule #3: Taking the sucker away is not necessarily the solution to the breaking of Rule #1 and Rule #2. I don't have the solution. I'm just saying, taking it away only increases the problem.

And so it goes...

I think this one is my favorite

Rule #...whatever number we're on...It's always fun to dress the kiddos alike, not required (unless you're a Stewart), but always fun!

The Hunt, 2011 edition

You might remember last year's hunt with three toddlers. Well they were at it again this year, plus a few new additions, who happily watched. We are rapidly adding to the number of hunters!!

Just a few (several) pics of the days events!

And off they go...

A-boy

Allister

And our newest additions:
R-boy

Wren

and Ellani was doing this

Again, another fun time with toddlers, who are too quickly growing up on us!!

Thank you, Jesus, for dying to save us and our precious children!

Good Friday

A tradition that Peter's family does every year takes place on Good Friday. Homemade doughnuts are prepared throughout the day and, after having snacked all day, we sit down for a "meal" of homemade soup, dougnuts and fruit compote. (Don't EVEN think about touching the fruit compote before the soup is completed...I learned that the hard way.)
I really don't know how this tradition came about, but I have had the privilege of participating in the real thing with Peter's family, and thought it would be so neat to continue this tradition in our own home.
Our doughnut making was a bit smaller of an event, but it was such a neat time with Allister. I had him sit on the counter and we chatted as I made the doughnuts.

After they were done and rolled in sugar, we sat down at the table and talked about what Good Friday is and what it means to Christians. We talked about how Jesus came to earth and then He was killed. But after three days, He was resurrected! And because Jesus did this we get to have a relationship with God! Allister was fully engaged and after every sentence I got a very enthusiastic "Yes" from Him.

Afterward, Allister and I dug in and enjoyed some doughnuts and fruit compote (no soup for us this year). He sure seemed to like them and it was so neat to sit down and share this opportunity to talk about Jesus with him!

Isaiah Stewart

When Peter was born, his father sat out in the waiting area, anxiously and excitedly waiting for the telephone call to hear the voice on the other end say "It's a boy". This has been a dream of Peter's since hearing his father's recalling of this most important event. With Isaiah, his dream came true, except that it was a text instead of a phone call, but Peter says it still counts! :) (Also, his wife was there, too, which is not how it happened with his father...but these are all just details!)

Isaiah Stewart was born at 11:05 am at 5 lbs 15 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.
Our smallest baby *thus far (Allister was 8 lbs 14 oz, and Ella was 8 lbs 5 oz.)
When we FINALLY got to hold him, he was wide awake, alert, with his eyes WIDE open and ready to eat. He kept putting his entire hand in his mouth and was sucking on it. His first meal he ate like a champ! (He IS his father's son, what else did we expect?!) :)

Isaiah, a man used by God to proclaim the life and work of Jesus.
This is our prayer for our son, that God would use him to tell others about his Great Savior.
Isaiah 6:8, "And then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' and I said, 'Here am I. Send me.' "
Isaiah, son, God wants you to seek Him with all of who you are, and we pray that you will answer, "Here am I". (I hope you realize that as your loving parents this may be a major test in our own faith some day!)

Stewart. One of my (Katy's) father's names.
There are fewer and fewer great men of God on this earth and Peter and I have come to believe that God has put many of those men of God into our life. My dad is one of those men. He is a man that has sought God and has allowed God to work on and change his own life. There are very few times I walk away from a conversation with my dad where he has not brought God into the conversation.  My dad is a man of tenderness, kindness, love, strength, compassion, genuineness, humility and many other great qualities, but most of all, he is a man that lives for and speaks about God. Even if you never get to really know my dad, you KNOW that He is a man who seeks God.

Isaiah, son, we pray you get to know your Papa (and Honi and Oma, too)!! But more, importantly, we pray that you would follow their example of seeking God in your life, following Him no matter the consequence, and speaking of Him, because there is no greater topic!

* (and, yes, I did say THUS far...though we aren't planning any more ANY time soon, I definitely want more of these little blessings!!)

Fishing

At the baby shower, a friend was kind enough to remember Allister and make a gift for him.

A fishing pole!! (Peter was very happy about this particular gift!)

Thank you, Auntie Brittany, he loves it! (Allister and Peter)
