The week of Oma's funeral was an absolute blur. We spent some of the day with her on Monday (May 13th) before she went to be with the Lord. Tuesday and Wednesday were spent with family, gathering pictures and making funeral preparations. Thursday we had two visitations, at which I was able to meet many more family members and friends. Friday, we had the funeral.
The funeral was a lovely celebration of Oma and the life that God had given to her, and the ways in which He worked during her, almost, 80 years of life.
We, somewhat sadly, decided it would be best to have babysitting for our youngest two, but Allister was able to be a part of the celebration, as a pall bearer beside Peter. Peter spoke at the graveside and was able to share about the hope we have in Jesus Christ, and I had the opportunity to read and share Oma's eulogy.
Now that the funeral is over, I feel like we can proceed with grieving.

My Isaiah
2 years ago, on May 9, 2011, your daddy and I waited, excitedly and nervously, in a hospital room, just down the hallway from you, for a text telling us that you were born. About 30 minutes after we received that very exciting text, we walked into the room you were in and got to see our precious baby boys' face for the first time. We gave you your first bottle and spent the 3 days with you in the hospital, taking time to visit your birthmother while she was in recovery. It was such a special time and one that I hope I remember clearly for years to come.
The first year of your life you were mellow-as-could-be, happy-about-everything, sweet little heart, precious boy.
The second year of your life you have been a "grand explorer". You love to jump high, run fast, play hard, push buttons, put fingers (and other small items) in holes, zip zippers. You are active (which is a bit of an understatement)!!! You love playing in the water, you love to jump off the couch and stairs, and you have invented a new 1 year old activity in which you jump up and do a 360 in the air.
In your short two years, you have shocked yourself playing with an electrical outlet, you have run into the busy street and almost gotten hit by a car (still makes me nervous), you have dislocated your elbow, twice, and we are currently wondering if you have sprained, or worse, your little foot (since you have been hobbling on it for over a week now). You are alive and well, thank the good Lord.
You love to help! No matter what it is and no matter how much of a help you actually are at this age, you will try to help out, (ie. licking the floor trying to help me "mop", cleaning the outside rocks via mouth, etc)
One thing that has not changed in these past two years is your excitement for life, your sweet heart, your love of people, your love for your big brother, especially, and, of course, your preciousness. All in all, you have a love for life that is contagious and appreciated! We love you precious boy!

One week ago we had a family get together to celebrate Isaiah's 2nd birthday. We ate hamburgers around Oma's dinner table. We sat on the front porch, enjoying the spring weather and the beautiful tulips that had begun to make their entrance in Oma's garden. I took pictures of the flowers, while Oma, ever the avid gardener, shared with me how she would tend to the tulips from year to year. Isaiah opened gifts and gave hugs. We sang 'Happy Birthday' about a dozen times and enjoyed some ice cream. We hugged; we laughed; we said "I love you". Just one week ago.

"...I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also." John 14:2,3 KJV
Peter's mother, our precious "Oma", went to be with Jesus (and Ota) on Monday evening at 5:30 pm.
We will miss this precious woman, but will not miss her forever and look forward to the day when we will be re-united. Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Toronto Zoo
This past week we went to the Toronto Zoo. We had such a great time that I ended up not having many pictures on my camera. And the kids ran around so hard that they each had a good rest on the drive home.
This is how they watched the tiger
Rhino
The hippo was probably our favorite

You Are My Wild, week 7
Week 7: April 28 - May 4
you can just barely see his swollen and bruised left cheek,
which he got jumping/tripping over a ball and flying, face first, into a wooden bench!
