Parks and Recreation

Parks in Albuquerque tend to be plots of land that typically have some grass, a few trees, a playground and maybe a tennis court and/or basketball court or two. This is what we are used to and going to a park is one of our favorite things to do. We enjoy finding new (to us) parks around town and making note of those that are our favorite (the latter statement is really only something I do). And, really, we're not too picky...if it is outdoors, we're happy!
Parks in Kitchener...totally different story. Wide open space, often with a forested area, river, pond, and/or lake, grassy area, playground (or two), picnic benches, sometimes a petting zoo...seriously! It's a park-lover's dream...and we've hit the jackpot! We are making up a map with the different parks around town and, now that it is nice weather, we'll be "researching" (ie. playing at) and exploring a new park every chance we get!!
This week we visited the same park twice, spent hours and didn't even explore the same place. We'll definitely need to go a couple more times, just to see the whole park. It's ginormous, and lovely...it has open fields, forested areas, a river with bridges (both safe and unsafe...our favorite), a pond with a dock, a splash park, several playground areas, a petting zoo...and on and on.
Here are some photos from this week's park exploration!
Also the "recreation" portion of the title has mostly to do with my taking pictures...that's all.

 The squirrels were very friendly.
At one point, Isaiah almost grabbed on to one...made me a wee bit nervous.

The kids love sticks!

This girl loves to practice the balance beam.
